Kinky as a cheap garden hose!
Ok, so now that I have your attention… I just realized – I almost let the entire month of Feb. go by with out posting anything to my blog! SHAME Ok, so it’s not THAT big of a deal, but I want to keep my promise of updating it at least once a month.
So I’ll quickly run through a list of the projects that have been keeping me busy. After all, it’s 40 minutes past my bedtime and I’m sitting here writing to you – you’d think you’d be grateful… especially considering that I’m about 5 hours behind in my sleep schedule already this week and it’s only Tuesday! (I know, wah!)
So of course, I still havn’t finished cleaning up my computer room and making it into a proper functional office… but it’s close, and once I finish some of the other computer/web/programming projects, I’ll get it finished.
I’ve written a basic Queue agent monitor program for the Asterisk VOIP server, it’s over at http://www.sirkels.com/software.php called AST WinAgent. It just shows basic status of the queue and who you’re talking to, etc. I plan to make another one, that’s simply a popup Caller ID without all the queue stuff – but still with some form of CRM (Customer Relationship Managment) so that when a call comes through, it can pass the callers phone number or other information off to another software or website (so you can pull up their account by phone number when the call comes in for example)
I’m revamping SSA Host at http://www.ssahost.com (Formerly SSA h0st, with a zero… I thought that was too confusing) and setting up a new shopping cart system to sell domains and webhosting. Everything will be more integrated, and should help things flow smoother. Once I’m satisfied with how it’s all working I need to get back to advertising for it and promoting it some more.
I’m also starting SSA Phone at http://www.ssaphone.com – a service mainly aimed at small busines owners (single owners or sole proprietors) who don’t want to use their home or cellphone for business – I give them a toll-free number that can go forward to any phone they want without their customers knowing what their private numbers are. It can also handle fax to email forwarding, voicemails, and auto-attendant capabilities (so there’s always an immidiate answer to their call and can route it to voicemail or an external number based on the choices the caller makes) The backend system is in place, I’m just testing the call detail reporting function to ensure billing will be accurate as well as making sure the order system is working properly to charge credit cards, etc. It should be fully operational very soon. (And again, I’ll be spending money marketing it…)
My main site, www.Sirkels.com now has a new phone number that will handle all 3 services and I’m also configuring a support system to centralize emails, tickets, knowledgebases, etc. for all 3 sites. It’s just taking time to input all that information and get it all working the way I want.
Some of the more personal project sites I run (Local personals and community news) have taken a back burner. The news site is non-operational after being hacked (I just havn’t finished redoing it, and havn’t been as motivated since it never was very popular) and the personals site is just running itself on momentum… What little is left – it seems like a new person signs up once a month or so. Eventually I’ll run some more marketing for it to get it back up to speed for a while – just not right now. I’ve just bought several expensive pieces of software to manage my business sites as well as a server and colocation to handle SSA Phone. Soon I’ll be shelling out a few more bucks to market these two services and hopefully get some business. Once I don’t feel so stretched thin, I’ll consider working on other personal projects again.
After all, I’m only one person – I can’t do everything overnight
Speaking of which, I planned to sleep overnight tonite… I’m gonna go try to make that happen.
Hopefully I’ll post again before March is over!
Take care…
Kris
