VoIP Security

VoIP, while a great idea, has a lot of built-in potential problems….

Check out this wiki entry...

Aside from phone calls being easily inturrupted by DDOS (or just a massive increase in traffic, reducing the available bandwidth, not necessarily a deliberate attack) there are also added risks of interception of calls and from both inside and outside the local LAN. There is very little in the way of standard encryption for VoIP traffic, mainly because there are no popular protocols yet for encrypting IP telephony aside from some proprietary (i.e. closed source) options. Unless you maintain both endpoints and can route your voice traffic through a secure tunnel, VoIP is no more secure than traditional POTS if not less so.

Live from the field

Low carb is getting old! Pictured here, is my dinner of 3 double cheeseburgers from McD’s, sans bread of course! 35 lbs in 4 months, I guess it’s been worth it.
