Forged Money Order

I’ve been in the pc industry for more than twenty five years, I’ve worked for both private and public sectors, including the Government. With every one of these years of familiarity, security consciousness continues to be a second nature for me. Whether I’m developing a program, designing a network, setting up a web page, setting up servers, etc., I’m continuously thinking of security. I believe that safekeeping shouldn’t be a task for one person or a department, however it’s a united effort of all persons in an company.

I recently started a company, Sarceno Network Consulting, and decided to publicize my services by means of Craigslist.org. One of my key goals is to sway the person who reads that this is an honest company. I understand scams can occur from either the buyer and/or the trader. My research reveals that most complaints are from the sellers that are being scammed by the customer. I was expecting it to be the other way around.

Most of these con artists (buyers) will answer to your want ad requesting for a quotation. In hopes of gaining your confidence, they will send the check first. The check total will contain extra funds to cover the pickup and delivery of merchandise, with directives to utilize the buyer’s specified transport company. Surprisingly enough, the bank teller or ATM will acknowledge the fake checks. It can be very tricky, even from the professional (bank teller) to determine a fraudulent check. The bank is obligated bylaw to make the resources accessible within a specific period of time, even if the check has not yet cleared through the banking system. Once the checks have came back not paid, your bank will render null and void the deposit plus additional fees.

I always consider computer systems as our friends. For individuals who have labored with me, they will tell you that I converse to the servers when troubleshooting. I was intrigued to find out that a counterfeit check could override the ATM security. I, being a good computer buddy and needing an editorial for my webpage, decided to do a slight investigation. It did not take too long, and I started getting bogus emails from my Craigslist Ad (Note: My ad is valid and I already have completed my services to some customers.) I started receiving emails from the following persons requesting the similar services.

ann – billiondays@googlemail.com

ann rice – annrice030@gmail.com

Chereese Alfred, Los Angeles, CA. 90008

keety young – keetyng750@gmaildotcom

Elayne Carlton – elaynecarlton466@yahoo.com

Eveline Schiavone – evelineschiavone452@yahoo.com

jerry john – jerry.john114477@mail.com

The job was to reload the operating system for several Laptops, install applications, clean the keyboard, and so forth. Same modus operandi (MO’s) they just vary the number of Laptops. The instruction was to cash the check “TODAY”, subtract the charge for my services and send the what’s left to the delivery company of their choice.

Red Flags and Warning Signs:

? Identical MO for computer ads. What are the probability that every one of these clients be looking for the similar thing, the same shipping stipulations plus the same forms of payment?

? There are ads for computer services on Craigslist on every major metropolitan areas. It is not economical to utilize a company from another state or country.

? They send your extra funds to reimburse the delivery company for pickup as well as delivery. It’s more natural if it’s only for delivery.

? The sender name on the FedEx mailing lable and the signature on the check do not match any of the names or email addresses. I can’t even cross reference the payment to the job if I want to deal with it.

? The FedEx envelope simply contains the checks. No copy of the email or correspondence. When is the most recent time you paid a bill with no invoice?

Precisely What Does The Term Biometric Mean?

A biometric safe analyzes a part of the actual owner, by using a fingerprint or maybe eye recognition, to open the safe. These types of safe can be extremely burglar-proof because they can not be picked, along with the security password can’t be guessed. The best way to open a biometric safe is for the owner of the safe to open up it by having the safe analyze by using fingerprint or eye identification. This will to be sure that they really are the owner of the safe. If someone attempts to help gain access to the safe who it does not owned by, a good number of them will lock-down for a selected quantity of time to ensure that they cannot make an effort to enter the safe again. This makes it so that they are not able to make an attempt to modify the scanner and break in.

By using a biometric safe there’s never a necessity to remember the combination or where you put the key. With this you’ll never fail to remember your combination, or your key’s location, and become locked out of your safe! In the event you have not possessed a safe prior to now you will most likely not know the frustration of being locked out of a safe, but nearly everybody has been locked out of their car at some point and that is a equivalent frustrating feeling.

There are numerous models of biometric safes all selected for various intentions. One of them is a gun safe biometric. These kinds of safe can come in various sizes depending upon on how big a safe you require. Because these safes require a biometric process to unlock, the safe will keep youngsters out of them. When operating with any sort of firearm in the house as well as young ones it is wise to be certain all of your guns are correctly placed.

Don?t just think safes when you ponder biometrics. Customers are able to buy biometric door locks, laptops, employee attendance time clocks! Should you have information in your laptop that you would like to keep secure you ought to take into consideration a biometric laptop. These kind of biometric laptops include a finger print scanner!

Some might be worried that you may be the sole person who has the ability to open the safe? You may have a wife or husband who will need access to the safe. This is simply not a downside. Many biometric safes is often created to receive different fingerprints so different people can use the safe.

Biometrics technological innovation felt unachievable at 1 point. It sounded as if only the richest would probably have a biometric safe behind their family portrait within the family den. However , times have evolved so the selling price has come down rendering it a actuality for everyone to acquire a biometric safe. Chances are they’ll save you much more should your property ever be broken into because a biometric safe will defend your most valuable treasures.

Overall I would recommend the purchasing of one of these safes. They will offer you “peace of mind” as well as protecting anything you set in them, most are even fire resistant. These kind of safe can be extremely effortless to unlock, and may be utilized swiftly might the need occur.

Only A Top Class Service Is Good Enough For A Top Class High Street Retail Store

On Friday the 10th of December 2010, the Arcadia flagship store TOPSHOP at Oxford Circus, London was witness to a rush of people that weren’t fighting for the latest fashion fix.

Only the day just before student riots had broken out inside the capital as a result of increased student loans. Despite the fact that the riots had started as peaceful, a section of men and women had been growing tension inside the crowds and damage and vandalism had started.

Arcadia, had to take action to prevent the store and its staff from being involved in any physical threat. Having a busy weekend looming they had to take immediate action. By adding extra CCTV cameras Arcadia could be able to foresee any issues from their central control room and manage onsite security to key locations within the store.

Following contacting their present installer for this location to see if they could fit the essential equipment instantly without having any success – Arcadia turned to Kings their main UK, CCTV and intruder alarm supplier.

Arcadia received a call at 10am on Friday the 10th outlining the scenario and by the next day, a survey had been carried out and the findings from the survey were? collated. Kings warehousing and logistics team then stepped in to ensure that all specialist equipment was dispatched and guaranteed to hit London for 9pm that evening when the store closed and installation would commence.

The Arcadia upgrade was originally planned to be a stand-alone installation, working independently of the existing CCTV setup. When on-site Kings realised that on account of the complexity of the existing monitoring equipment the planned installation would not communicate with the Arcadia control room – the only choice was to integrate the new CCTV system into the existing infrastructure.

By 6pm the 22 powerful installation team had been ready to go. With over 200,000 men and women visiting the store each week keeping downtime to a minimum was essential, so Kings waited until the store closed at 9pm to start work. Security Systems

Once the doors had been shut it was a case of all hands on deck! The location of the shop imposed a few logistical difficulties, as it can be central to Oxford Circus. Kings had to organise and supply vehicle mounted access platforms to allow the installation of the high level external cameras whilst ensuring pedestrians and staff had been secure. The size of the shop meant that over 3.5km of cable was installed throughout the night.

Following a long adrenaline filled night TopShop

opened as usual at 9am the following morning, with key cameras on the internet to monitor activity. The final part of the integration was complete by 5pm on Saturday. In total,

10 external speed domes, 2 internal speed domes, 7 external fixed domes and 6 internal cameras had been installed in just 20 hours from physical work commencing – additionally to it all being completed on a Friday night – despite the fact that pizzas had been supplied at half time! Alarms Systems

Kings Security gave Arcadia total peace of mind in such a short space of time when it was required essentially the most.

Anonymous Messaging Versus Anonymous Email ? Which Is Better

People have many reasons for remaining anonymous on-line. The two most common are to surf websites anonymously and to send an anonymous message, instant messaging, blogs, forums and chat rooms.

There is no argument that internet privacy has become a hot topic in recent years. In fact, with more and more monitoring of electronic communication since 9/11, the likelihood that you can do anything on-line anonymously is just about nil. There are some things you can do while on-line to hide your identity such as using a proxy server to mask your IP address. However, it is important to recognize that this does not mean that you are entirely anonymous while surfing on-line. Your internet service provider (ISP) tracks where you get on the internet highway. So, there is still a record of you connecting to any given proxy server. Also, your ISP can track when you have left the proxy server. These events are time stamped. Therefore, if you were conducting criminal activities while connected to the proxy server you have a fairly good chance of being tracked down.

Why? Because of several factors. Even though you may connect to another website with an IP address not associated with your modem or ISP, your MAC address, cookies, passive software running in the background and identifying information in your browser and operating system may be leaving revealing information hind. Think about it like this- instead of using your car to commit a crime you steal a car to rob a gas station. But while committing the crime your business card falls out in the stolen vehicle, you leave some hair, blood or saliva at the crime scene. You deposit your finger prints on the car or you are seen in the stolen vehicle by someone who recognizes you. Also, the car was reported stolen immediately and found just after the crime. Not only is there a ton of forensic evidence but now they know when the car was taken, when the crime was committed and when the car was abandoned.

This is analogous to using a proxy server. Your ISP knows when you get on the proxy server, the proxy server logs your activity (which could possibly be subpoenaed later by law enforcement), your ISP detects when you leave the proxy server and that is enough for a digital forensics data recovery expert to start following the bread crumbs. With access to the right server logs, technology, patience and a handful of subpoenas- it is only a matter of time before your identity is revealed.

Now that we know it is quite easy to track down anonymous users let?s talk about anonymous messaging. There really are two types of communicating anonymously on-line. Anonymous messaging and anonymous email. They are two very different methods. Anonymous email has been around for a long time and attempts to mask the ?message header? and IP address of the sender. In simple terms, the idea is to create as much ?static? and digital garbage as possible so the email cannot be easily tracked back to the sender. Some ways this is accomplished is by using a combination of proxy servers and ?re-mailers?. A re-mailer takes the original email and re-mails it from a different server. Ideally, the content of the original email is transcribed into a new email first, so the original message header doesn?t come along for the ride. The email is then sent from the new server which may connect through a myriad of proxy servers and security exploits on various websites.

Hopefully, the effort will effectively mask where it came from. But, as we discussed above- with the right access, expertise and court orders- there is probably enough digital forensic evidence to identify the original sender. I highly doubt that the owners of these SPAMMY looking anonymous email websites are going to go to bat for you when they are served with subpoenas to present all their server logs.

So what?s the the other option? Anonymous messaging. Anonymous messaging in its purest form is very simple and highly effective. It doesn?t require special software, security exploits or proxy servers. In fact- you don?t even have to send an email. How is this possible? There is a website called SilentSender.com that allows you to send an anonymous message without the threat of malware or viruses and without all the cloak and dagger routine. When you go to Silent Sender you simply put in the email address you want to send a message to and then type out a short message, agree to the terms of service and hit send. Wow, easy eh?

What?s happening behind the scenes? After you hit send, Silent Sender sends your recipient a notification email that a message is waiting for them to retrieve. A unique tracking number is sent along with the notification. When the recipient opens their email and clicks on the tracking number they are sent to the same website/screen you sent the message from. They agree to the terms of service and their message is immediately displayed in a box on the Silent Sender website. Once they click off the site, the message is permanently deleted.

So what is the advantage of using this method over the archaic anonymous email methods from the past? First ?you? aren?t sending any emails, ever. Secondly, Silent Sender is not forwarding your original message, instead they hold onto it, like a digital bulletin board. Third, the recipient has the choice to retrieve the message or not. If they do not, it is automatically deleted in seven days. And lastly, you digital fingerprint is very small. You should never use anonymous email or anonymous messaging to commit a crime, engage in cyber-bullying or partake in defamatory speech. Think before you click!
